Incidental finding of an aortic valve mass on 64-slice computed tomographic coronary angiography.
Quiz A 41-year-old Chinese man with a background history of hypertension for 8 years underwent a computed tomography coronary angiography for an evaluation of atypical central chest pain. This revealed a coronary artery calcium score of zero with no signifi cant stenosis seen in any of the coronary arteries. We report on a middle-aged woman treated for chronic hepatitis C virus infection with pegylated interferon. Auscultation revealed a diastolic murmur and the peripheral signs of aortic regurgitation. She had shortness of breath on moderate exertion for the past 4 months, which she attributed to her liver disease. Echocardiogram showed a quadricuspid aortic valve with severe aortic regurgitation....
متن کاملIncidental finding of a papillary fibroelastoma on the aortic valve in 16 slice multi-detector row computed tomography.
Papillary fibroelastoma (PFE) is a benign, rare, gelatinous tumour derived from the endocardium, primarily the cardiac valves, which is usually diagnosed by high resolution echocardiography. Although rarely clinically symptomatic, PFEs have a potential for coronary ischaemia, systemic embolisation with neurologic symptoms, and sometimes valvar dysfunction. There are reports of coronary occlusio...
متن کاملIncidental Diagnosis of the Unicuspid Aortic Valve with Ascending Aortic Aneurysm in an Asymptomatic Adult
The unicuspid aortic valve is an extremely rare congenital anomaly. It usually presents with aortic stenosis and/or aortic regurgitation. Other cardiovascular complications, such as aortic dilatation and left ventricular hypertrophy can accompany it. Herein, we present a case report of a 50-year-old asymptomatic male patient with unicuspid aortic valve, complicated by ascending aortic aneurysm.
